The Atelier opened in March 2026, two blocks from the Avenue B shop, in the space that used to be Monk Thrift. It is where the tailor works.
Most people come in with one of two things: something that fits everywhere except one place, or something they have stopped wearing and can't throw out. Both are fixable. You put the garment on, the tailor pins it, and you get a price before anything is cut.
The work the Atelier takes on.
If you are not sure whether something can be saved, bring it in. Deciding it can't takes two minutes and costs nothing.
- Hems — trousers, skirts, dresses, sleeves, and blind hems where the stitch shouldn't show.
- Taking in and letting out — waists, sides, backs, sleeves.
- Shoulders and sleeves on jackets and coats, which is the alteration most places won't touch.
- Zippers, buttons, hooks, and replacing a lining that has gone before the coat has.
- Repairs and mending — tears, moth holes, seams that have given out.

Call 212-529-8886 first and we'll tell you when the tailor is in. The Atelier is open Monday to Wednesday and Friday 8am–7pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am–8pm, and closed Thursdays.
Can you alter a wedding dress or a suit?
Yes. Formalwear and wedding work are part of what the Atelier does. Bring the garment and the shoes you'll wear with it, because the hem depends on them.
Do you clean the garment as well as alter it?
Yes. Alterations and dry cleaning are the same counter at the Atelier, so a garment can be altered and cleaned in one drop-off.
